Now that the competition is concluded I would like to take a moment to reflect
on this great event and, on behalf of USA Powerlifting, thank those who made it
possible. 

For those who attended, it goes without saying that this was one of the greatest IPF competitions ever.  From the comfortable and luxurious hotel to the elegant venue, and including all of the various activities planned for the participants throughout the week, the competition organizer Lance Slaughter outdid himself. 

If the numbers of smiling faces were any indication, the competitors were happy to be in Palm Springs, and pleased with the competition.  The spotters and loaders did a fantastic job, and at times were so fast that the competitors wished for a less agile group.  The rest of the meet production staff did an exemplary job as well, with computer scoring always accurate, announcing encouraging and informative, and the few rough spots addressed and solved immediately.  The IPF officials in attendance were so pleased they have asked that we return to Palm Springs for another championship in the future. 

No world championships could proceed without the support of our very generous sponsors: CON-CRET (the Presenting Sponsor), Titan Support Systems, Basquiat Vineyards of California, Ivanko Barbell Co., CSS Photo Design, Quest Nutrition, ER Equipment, Powerlifting USA Magazine, and House of Pain made these championships possible.  It is not possible to provide an event with such professional production values in such a spectacular environment without the financial and in-kind support of many.  It is no overstatement to say that we couldn’t have done it without the contributions of each of these benefactors.

Lastly, I would like to personally thank the volunteer staff who spent months preparing for this competition, and for countless hours during the week of the competition greeting athletes, organizing the venue, running the competition, and cleaning up after. 

The individual members of USA Powerlifting showed that they are our strength and our greatest resource.  Thank you all.

We look forward to hosting the world again in Palm Springs.
